Two of the paths around the quad at my college were lined with oak trees, and supported a healthy population of squirrels. One time, as I was strolling along, thinking about something else, an acorn dropped onto my head. Startled, as several more rained down on me, my first thought was, “Why are the squirrels are throwing acorns at me?!?”
I retained enough self-possession to avoid diving for cover.
…Anyway, being acorn-bombed by squirrels is a much better story.
