Q is for Quarantine: a Coronavirus Alphabet
The word for “A” isn’t very funny, but it might be relatable.

In March 2020, I became sick with a suspected case of long COVID. On the day after my quarantine ended, I received a handmade get-well card from a family member. The front of the card read “Q is for Quarantine,” and sparked the idea of creating a humorous pandemic-themed alphabet, starring Lab Mice.
Cartooning has helped fill some very long, hard days since then. Finding creativity and humor in the midst of pandemic chaos feels like winning a small victory over COVID. Ultimately, I would like to turn this project into a book.

~Me, getting ready to return my history degree.

During a conversation with my husband and a friend, I suddenly couldn’t remember a relevant fact. “What was Napoleon’s first name?” I asked. I was met with a long silence, and wide-eyed stares.
Bonus: I have a degree in history.
We began speculating on what might have happened, had I asked such a question in an actual history class, particularly with certain professors (hint: I would no longer be here to ask foolish questions), and this comic was born.

Happy Halloween!

Happy weekend!–nevermind….
This autumn (of 2021) marks seventeen years since I doodled the first Lab Mouse on a high school biology quiz. It’s about time that Lab Mice has its own space on the internet. Welcome–and help yourself to some cake.
